"Children," which opened this week at Williamstown Theatre Festival's Main Stage, may have been suggested to A.R. Gurney by the John Cheever story, "Goodbye, My Brother." But fans of Gurney will find in his 1974 play much of the thematic material that he would write about for the next 35 years.
