Children paint a lot more than animals at Pines exhibit
If there's one thing Gloriela Araujo knows about her art students, it's that they love to draw animals.
Especially dinosaurs.
Each day, children as young as 4 shuffle into Araujo's el taller art space in Pembroke Pines. A native of Venezuela, Araujo has been painting since she was a child and now lives in Weston.
'It feels natural,' Araujo said of her attraction to art. 'People are born with a skill, and they have to develop it.'
Araujo's classes cover a variety of techniques and styles. In one class, children spend an hour drawing and painting a picture of a clownfish. For the class of 5- and 6-year-olds, the clownfish instantly reminds them of the title character from Finding Nemo . In another class, children work with plaster and dough to create animal shapes - including, of course, a Tyrannosaurus rex.
