I would like to thank the Hemmingway family for being there for the tenants, your family did a wonderful job taking care of your tenants. I am very happy that the tenant pulled together to get all the tenants out, I would say it is a blessing, that no one was hurt. Just remember apartments and cars can be replaced, but human life can't. And I want to thank the firefighters from the 8 towns for doing a wonderful job, for containing the fire to one building, because I know they had a fight on their hands that night. God Bless you all.

Having been tenants until just recently,we both appreciate the effort of not only the firefighters who do a superb job of containing the fire to one building but that of Jeof Hemmingway and family for funding those tenants involved,as it shows the compassion they have for others. Both the departments involved and the family should be praised as such. Our best goes out to them all.Althogh we've relocated to nc we feel as though we were still there. Good luck to all....Bob&Darlene Frazier

I was there when the Ayer Fire Department arrived dropping off other residents who lived on the opposite side of the fire.

I was very surprised at the quick response time of the firefighters. One of the Ayer Firefighters who was directing traffic near the mailboxes was acting very unprofessional cussing at people, but hey.... its not everyday a big fire like that erupts in our small little Town of Ayer.

Other then that, they did an excellent job! Glad they saved the other Zodiac Apartments nearby.

Michael Edney is my cousin and after my mom told me about this (several other family members had seen the article), we can all say that we're proud!

We love you, Mikey!!

Sorry, I messed up my previous entry. I meant to put my name and put "Michael Edney" instead. Also, I accidentally entered before finishing...

I'm glad to hear that everyone seems to have made it out okay and hope that everyone helps them out in any possible way...

You sure it wasn't a cop? Pretty sure the FF's were busy fighting the fire!

My youngest son was one of the people who escaped this terrible fire, he, and all who escaped are so very very lucky.....things can be replaced, people cannot and though I am sure it will be a long long time before this can be forgotten, if ever, at least they know that they are all safe and well.
The fire department did a wonderful job knocking down the fire and keeping the rest of the buildings from going up in flames, Hopefully the remaining residence are all doing well now....bless them all!

Mr Humphreys actually is a resident in the town of ayer and i actually heard what the FF said and actually it was a FF who said it but it wasnt that he was being rude it was because Mr Humphreys had his nose into everything like ussual that happens every time in town and dint let them do there job he had to drive the taxi through the fire to create a scene for the emergency ppl nothing new!!
