Residents, guests and local officials packed the lobby of the RiverCourt Residences Assisted Living Community in West Groton on May 17 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of an elderly-care facility that has become a showplace among town development projects.

Ask Kira LaFosse-Baker how she chose a selectman candidate, and she'll tell you the decision was easy: "We wanted someone new." In a small town, experienced incumbents can easily get comfortable with their old friends on elected boards, the local preschool teacher said.

Health fair: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Senior Center. The whole community is welcome to come and visit the many vendors, information booths and health screenings.

The last public supper of the season for Christian Union Church in West Groton will be Saturday, May 19 from 5-7 p.m. The menu will consist of homemade baked beans, baked ham and served with cole slaw and potato salad, dessert and beverage.
