The 400 block of South Matlack Street is not near campus at all. Once again, the media is blowing things out of proportion and causing all the hipe.

Really, not near campus at all? Are you serious, its 1/3 of a mile from campus and the people who live there are all college kids.

Thats like 4 blocks away from campus. Headline and story seem pretty accurate to me.

I'd like to know why Channels 6 and 3 are not reporting this story at all? Because the police are not confirming it? The earlier story was not in the Phila Inquirer either. By now you'd think the other news outlets would have picked it up. Is it a "crime wave" or what?

How can you say that is not near campus at all? Student housing is all around that area. The crime rate in this town in skyrocketing and it's rediculous. How are you not worried about these things if you live in the area? And if you don't live in the area, you should not talk at all.

What the hell does that mean Bob? I was born and raised in West Chester and it isnt a bad place. I still live in West Chester even though It doesnt say that under my name, my whole family lives in West Chester.

What Bob means is that the only place they get stabbed in "San Francisco" is in the backside.

Hey Bob - maybe you aren't from the area. West Chester is *not* exactly the west side of Chester - if fact they are worlds apart. While the area of the incident is near campus, it is also on the border of the "bad" side of town where you would expect that kind of activity. I am a WCU alumna, and I know better than to be in that area after dark. Having said that, most other parts of West Chester are beautiful and perfectly safe and I love it here.
