If the West Carrollton Police spent more time patrolling the sites that had the highest amount of vandalism the problem could be reduced. Approx 90% of the time that I see someone pulled over for a traffic citation there is multiple police cruisers at the scene of the citation. It seems to me that one officer could handle giving a ticket. I also see them sitting in parking lots or at gas stations around the city doing nothing, or sitting somewhere looking for traffic violations. WC needs to make a decision, do they want the income from traffic violations, can one officer or cruiser handle giving a ticket, or do they want to reduce crime and enforce traffic codes both? I'm sure that they could do both if they were properly trained or held accountable.

Watch and remember "COPS". If one has time, not on a call, be backup if close, just in case, maybe making a suspect or stopee change his or her mind about fighting or fleeing or shooting an officer or a civillian. YOU DO NOT know who they are in that car, especially if there is more than one occupant. Use your head or they may make you dead.

Excellent point Former Cop. Mel sounds like the perfect arm chair quarterback. Put him out there and see what kind of decision he makes in a split second, and then let us judge him from the comfort and safety of our computer monitors.

No wonder our society is messed up, its evident that some people have opinions, or make decisions on television shows, court TV is the very very worst of the bad, and alot of the bad scenes on that show are agravated by pushie, too young cops that are on power trips. Most of the time people treat you with respect if you treat them with respect. Remember how it used to be -- "public servants", not enforcers. Myself, as a good citizen, I would stop to help any officer in need of help, but, they knew what the job entaled when they took it.

I kind of agree with Mel that the West Carrollton police need to shift their focus from traffic violations to more serious things like the rash of thefts from garages in my area. My neighborhood is never patrolled and the only reason police show themselves is to park and give traffic citations. And to their own residents, no less, like me. Beyond that, it was a petty license plate violation that was uncalled for and thrown out by the judge. The police's job is to serve and protect their residents, not enforce them. Otherwise we'll simply stop paying their salaries.
