Thank you, Mr. Smith, for sharing your work with us as a community while you did your work on this fine caboose. This fixture in New Freedom will be missed, but your caboose will run, again. Congrats!!

It will be sad to see what has become a New Freedom landmark leave... I hope the other two stay. I would think many more people in the NF area and trail would see and appreciate it rather than Tioga County..?

The PRR rides again on Home State rails. Thanks Al for giving us a real gift. I can't wait to climb aboard and experience it.

Saddly, no one has mentioned the real reason why this lovely historic landmark is leaving New Freedom and York County! York County had a wonderful dinner train where Allen J. Smith acted as engineer, conductor and historian at different times. It was very well attended with folks coming from great distances to ride from New Freedom to York City. The train was maintained
by volunteers that ran out of money. The County Commissioners did not see fit to make this already tourist attraction even better. The rails are falling apart from neglect.

All York County has left are a few train stations and rusty memories of what might have been. The tourists and money it would have brought into our area is being enjoyed by other counties such as Strasburg and Tioga County, where the train will run into Corning, NY.

Can anyone think of something exciting tourists could do in York County other then eat? It doesn't matter to our Commissioners; they have jobs.

This is great! Mr. Smith is a bit older than 54, though!

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Capricorn

You're in an industrious mood but you'll be happiest if you can be left to your own devices as much as possible. It's not that you're feeling unfriendly, simply that you won't be able to concentrate very well if you're surrounded by lots of people. If you haven't even started writing your Christmas cards yet, try to remedy that at some point today.
