They need to check out Twin Branch...some there have drugs and are those that you would not ever believe or think they would have drugs or use drugs as they do....They are NOT pillars of the community like they try to make it look!!!!!

Suspect arrested in McDowell County drug case

By CHARLES OWENS
Bluefield Daily Telegraph

WELCH — Police seized drugs, guns, cash and more from a McDowell County residence following a task force investigation, officials said Tuesday.

Robert Keith Goodman, 56, of Berwind, was arrested and charged with transporting controlled substances in the state, possession with intent to deliver scheduled II controlled substances and conspiracy to violate the drugs laws of West Virginia, Mark Shelton, chief deputy of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Department, said.

Shelton said the sheriff’s department and members of the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in Berwind, and seized several guns, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, a four-wheeler, two vehicles, and 244 OxyContin pills.

Shelton said officials believe OxyContin was being transported from out-of-state into McDowell County and the Berwind community.

“They had a pretty good-sized organization going,” Shelton said.“More arrests are pending.”

Shelton said Goodman was arraigned late Monday evening before Magistrate Pete Beavers, who set bond at $50,000. Goodman was still being held Tuesday at the McDowell County Holding Facility in lieu of bond.

Shelton said the arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation by the sheriff’s department and the task force.

Mark Shelton is a fine mine, IMHO. I give much credit to Mark and Danny for all the hard work they have done through the Task force. I also, would like to thank all involved.

seems like alot going on in berwind and hartwell. sounds like the law is cleaning up. the crooks need to be put away, they think no one can touch them or that they do nothing wrong. sounds like this small town is getting to be alot like the big cities., i think the crooks hide behind small towns and good people, they use them and some people are to dumb to see it. keep up the good work.

They can't be everywhere all the time, it is going to take the whole community to get them out of our community. Now that Tyson Towers is gone, sorry to say, but they are going to be looking for a new place to set up shop. I am doing what I have to in order to protect my neighborhood. If I have to take pics and tag numbers then that is what I will do. The good people of this county need to stand up and run them out of our community. Landlords can be a big help in this area if they would do their homework before renting to these users and dealers.

Why does this seem to offend you so much? It was Mark's business to arrest him and yes he was hurting Mark and everyone around. Every single one that he sold a pill to and every family member of the one who bought a pill. Can you not see what drugs are doing to everyone. I have lost so many friends to drugs that I can't count anymore. That is sad. I think attempted murder should be put to him. Every time he sold a pill, he was attempting to murder.
