Education: Learning blooms in Watseka

Construction of a new greenhouse at Watseka Community High School is in the planning stages for use in education of all ages of students in the Iroquois County Unit School District 9. The greenhouse will be built thanks to a $95,000 grant to the Unit 9 Academic Foundation from the Katharine A. Clifton Trust, said Superintendent Kenneth Lee.

Watseka: Berkot's closes; Walmart set to open

The Berkot's Super Foods store located at 1152 E. Walnut St. in Watseka was permanently closed Monday, said Derrick Cannon, of Berkot's. Berkot's announced that it would be closing the Watseka store, one of 13 Berkot's, and thanked the community for its years of support.
