Gettysburg's ongoing struggle to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act won't only be the struggle of government officials and business owners much longer.

Well, I can see that the rumor years ago about Gettysburg turning into a ghost town might come sooner than you think. How in the world are some of the senior citizens going to pay for sidewalks that they probably can't even get out to "shovel" in the winter? Who is going to help them with the expenses? Maybe this Marilynn Phillips should be footing the bill for those that can not afford it. I understand that streets need to be user friendly for the handicapped but what did handicapped people do a "long time ago". They usually had someone to help them. I know they want their independence, but Gettysburg is an OLD town and may not always be able to satisfy the current requirements.

Come on, don't the town people pay enough only to have more put on them. Maybe the town of Gettysburg should quit spending so much money on BRICK walkways across the square (what a waste that was) because they are broken up, raised up due to wear and weather. And lets now spend a fortune on flowers. I don't think the tourist care what kind of flowers are on the square. If you want to plant something, plant wild flowers (they are self maintaining and you do NOT need to plant them every year).

Gettysburg needs to stop wasting money. And if something needs fixed, I would say it is the first block on York Street and Chambersburg St. Whoever they got to lay the material for that the other year was a waste also because it didn't even last 1 year. Its getting full of ruts, holes and being rotted away with winter icing materials.

Do NOT put this burden on the townspeople to pay for what Marilynn is complaining about. Does she even shop here? How many stores does she visit every week?

I just think it's sad the Evening Sun spends the money for the ink to print anything that comes out of this Marilynn's BIG MOUTH.

Look lady YOU need to get a life and do some good for once. The paper should STOP printing her stupid story's at once.

I'm in a wheelchair and I don't give a DAMM what you think or have an opionion about,,,,Go away and shut up.

Why should the Residence pay. It's not the residence that are getting all the money from the thousands of tourist that trend on their sidewalks. Why take from people who worked all their lives and paid for homes and raised families.I quess Marilynn doesn't care if they have food or medical as long as they have a nice sidewalk.

We just got back from Gettysburgh and my husband is handi-cap. Yes some of the streets could be better. The problem is crossing the streets and the speeding cars. Can't expect the government to pay they can't even provide handi-cap access to their federal buildings, yet they want everyone else to comply.

Annette Ritchie, the flowers are beautiful and I agree they should use ones that come up each year. The bricks they are installing are donated by people in memory of their loved ones. If you look you will see names on them. I personally love brick sidewalks.

Marilynn Phillips is a terrorist and should be arrested. And she wonders why people call her a
bitch on wheels.
