Preparing to launch Independent filmmakers shooting 'The Space Station' in Conway By RACHEL PARKER DICKERSON A group of University of Central Arkansas students and alumni, with the help of other members of the community, have been shooting an independent film in Conway.

It was a good year to be a tomato farmer in southeast Arkansas, says John Gavin, Bradley County agent with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service.

An Arkansas man was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with stabbing another man during an argument.

Severe weather warnings and the threat of tornadoes affected most of Arkansas on Saturday afternoon, particularly in the south, and at one time or the other, tornado warnings were issued for every county in Southeast Arkansas except Arkansas County.

Although there were a number of warnings, the National Weather Service in North Little Rock said no twisters had been confirmed Saturday afternoon.

Tornado sirens were activated at all the sites in Jefferson County at about 3:30 p.m., but Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Wally Hunt said that was done primarily as a precaution.

Approximately 50-75 recruits showed up at Ole Miss for another junior day, this event in conjunction with the Rebels' annual Red-Blue game on Grove Bowl weekend.

At noon, yesterday,an estimatedA 200 citizens met in what is described as "a modern day 'Boston Tea Party'" to hear speakers, and show their unity against what was described as "taxes that begin when you get up and turn off your alarm clock". Warren resident Dustin Torrence was sentenced today in Cleveland County Circuit Court to ten years in prison for his role in the May 23,2003, fire that destroyed Kingsland High School, the county prosecutors office told Warren Topix this afternoon.
