Burnette Odell Thomasson Jr., 76, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Woodbury Wellness Center in Hampstead.

A man was killed and two others were injured Friday afternoon when two vehicles collided head-on in front of Mount Airy Middle School, authorities said.

Byron Ellis has resigned his position as town manager of Walnut Cove. Ellis was named interim manager in October after Homer Dearmin resigned to become manager of Pilot Mountain.
