Marvin Eugene Bagwell, 52, of 2012 Five Notch Road, husband of Sherry Lynn Campbell Bagwell, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at his home.

Signups are now underway for evening classes in acoustic bluegrass instruments in Clemson, Travelers Rest, Greenville, Easley, Pickens and Walhalla that will begin on Monday, June 4. These classes are part of the Young Appalachian Music program.

Oconee County authorities say a man who refused to surrender to police after his wife called 911 and said he was firing gunshots in their house gave up peacefully after an eight-hour standoff.

A 911 call brought deputies to the home of James Pyles, 44, on Laurel Hill Drive, in Walhalla just before 8 p.m., according to Travis Tilson with the Oconee County Sherrif's Office.

Officials with JTEKT Automotive South Carolina Inc. said Tuesday the company plans to invest $102 million over the next two years.
