1 So who has said it will hurt Weiner? Sure it may hurt future growth but the tax base that is left here isnt going anywhere. It wont cut the municipal levy receipts here any like it will in Waldenburg. The big cut will be in the fuel and alcohol sales. I guess if Weiner was wet we might have some stores getting hurt by this, but Weiner is dry and it is hard to get a convienence store to open if they cant sell beer. Now that is the shame! Most months Weiner has as much or more sales tax income than Waldenburg. Waldenburg has a 2 cent city tax where Weiner only has a 1 cent. By the way, education has nothing to do with working with the budget we have here in Weiner. It takes some pretty sharp manuvering to keep the city going with such a small budget. You have to work with what is there and get the most bang for the buck with the taxpayers money. I will take common sense over a paper degree anyday and yes I have a degree myself and it is useless when it comes to the real world. Oh, by the way, I am not better than anyone except maybe people who are afraid to put their name with their so called comments. What hurts is people are convinced that they Have to live in a bigger city so they move with the masses to the larger areas just so they can say they live there. They pay half or less for utilities but pay 3 to 5 times more in house payments or rent. I have lived in big cities while in the Army and you can have them. Most small towns in America are up against the same thing we are here, so either help us work into the future or stay out of the way and get a life so you dont have to hide behind a fake name online while bashing everyone. Whocares exactly? Weiner is full of spoiled little rich kids and those that are jealous of them, dopeheads and rednecks, so your little town finally burned-out? WHAAA WHAAA.. too late to get on here and bash everyone and blame someone else, I will agre its about all to do in the pathetic little place, and gossip is one of Weiner's greatest fames......so nevermind--go ahead and eat each other up, it's whats your used too!

1 Does it matter to you, doesnt to me. This day and age too many people think they are better than the rest of the world if they have a degree. Like I said , degrees are usefull only if your are getting into professional storytelling ie. state or national politics. Everyone thinks they can get a degree and then get any "position" they want. Position equals- paycheck without working for it / non productive work. Entirely too many people in this world with degrees and they cant do 6th grade math. Oh, Associates in Electronics. I have also taken dozens of other courses from business management to financial market strategys to tax law to armament systems to just about anything you can think of. I still believe that a real world education is more valuable than most of the brick & mortar educations out there. By the way, I finally read the Kait story online and as usual they butchered most of what was said to them. Degrees at work again. |

I don't believe people move to a larger place "just so they can say they live there." If a person is not employed or can't find employment in the area, then the need to relocate to a larger town is a smart move. We lived in Weiner and loved it. But, as you say, the utilities were much higher. Plus the fact that I had to drive almost 30 miles one way to work everyday. We spent a lot of money on gas plus the miles on my car quickly added up. Ecomonics was the reason we moved, not because we wanted to say we lived in a certain place. We can afford a larger place here because we don't pay as much in utilities and gas. I still miss Weiner though. There is nothing like living in a small town. And, I can think of couples there that both work in Jonesboro and drive everyday. We just couldn't afford to do it anymore. |
