Shell Q2 profit nearly doubles to $8.7 billion

Royal Dutch Shell PLC, Europe's largest oil company, reported Thursday a near doubling in second quarter profits to $8.66 billion, boosted by higher oil prices and new production from Canadian oil sands and natural gas in Qatar.
