In the wake of last week's powerful winter storm that left two feet of snow on the ground, knocked power out in town and heightened the possibility of flooding, the Oregon Red Cross responded to a request for help by moving people, supplies and resources into this community of 2,300 people.

Despite warm temperatures rendering a three-day snow event fairly mundane this week in the greater Hillsboro area, the Oregon Department of Transportation said Wednesday that chains or traction tires were still required on mountain passes, and all motorists should be alert for falling trees and power lines.

Most of the Pacific Northwest was being slugged by winter storms Wednesday morning, with conditions far worse than in Clark County.
