Louisiana House approves 50-year plan for restoring coast

A 50-year, $50 billion plan for restoring Louisiana's eroding coast , along with the annual plan for the coming year, won the unanimous support from the Louisiana House of Representatives on Tuesday, the last hurdle in a sometimes-contentious process that began in January.

Fat speckled trout are just waiting "along the beach"

The tide and wind were right, and the fishing reports were excellent: Grand Isle anglers had been taking limits of fat speckled trout "along the beach." So when guide Danny Ray, owner/operator of Calmwater Charters, pointed his big cat boat south in Caminada Pass heading for the Gulf seashore, I was excited -- until I looked east, then west.
