Firefighters from Valley Mills and China Spring battled a house fire Friday afternoon in a rural area north of Waco.

Residents from Robinson to Valley Mills who were startled late on a November night in 2008 by a loud roar and flashes of light in the sky didn't realize it at the time, but they were witnesses to history in the making.

Former Texas State Technical College student Joshua Asbell, 20, was sentenced Thursday to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty earlier in the week to aggravated robbery in connection with a holdup on May 11, 2011 at CJ's 66 convenience store in Mexia.
