A mother was fatally shot in the head in her car Friday in Jeff Davis County after meeting with her estranged husband in Uvalda to drop off her two young children.

Allison Nicole Bamberg, 28, of Baxley was found slumped over in her Malibu sedan near the gas lines by the Altamaha River bridge on Ga. 135 at about 6:10 p.m. Friday, said Jeff Davis Sheriff Jimmy Boatright.

Her estranged husband, Damon James Bamberg, 30, and his mother, Sonya Lou Bamberg, 52, both of Mount Vernon, are charged with murder, Boatright said. Read more
