Ebert Misses Start Of 10th Annual Film Festival
The 10th annual Roger Ebert Film Festival began Wednesday without the main attraction -- Ebert himself.
The Chicago Sun-Times film critic couldn't attend because he's recovering from a broken hip. Ebert said the injury resulted when he recently tripped and fell.
"A broken hip adds to my tour of medical adventures. My current plan is to take it easy, obey the doctors orders, and start writing reviews again," Ebert wrote on his blog. "In the meantime, my heart will be in Urbana."
His wife, Chaz, kicked things off with an apology for holding the festival without the man it's named after. "I'm an Ebert, but I'm no Roger Ebert," she said. Read more
