Offended postal carrier responds

Full story: Record-Bee

I am writing this in response to the recent editorial rants of Cynthia Parkhill, in which she points the finger of blame at the U.S. Postal Service for the late delivery or, perhaps, sometimes non-delivery of the Lake County Record-Bee newspapers to it's subscribers in Lake County.

Man, this topic is so old it's got arthritis. This was a topic 2 months ago. Your late response is perfect given the business you work for. I enjoy getting my mail late too. What's worse, my neighbor's mail late. Hey Post Office, keep up the good work. Thank God you're subsidized by the government.

You should double check on that subsidy Steve. I believe the USPS receives no federal money and is supported by the income it receives from stamps and mailing products. Please provide any evidence to prove me wrong. If you look around the world, you'll find we have the most efficient, low cost mail delivery system in existence. Again, prove me wrong. I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

I'm pretty happy with my mail service, at least we don't have that fat old hog who wouldn't get out of her truck anymore so packages don't get left by the roadside (yes, that really has happened). Sounds like Cynthia should have done a little investigating before mouthing-off about this, as the probelm looks like it begins down at the RB.

HUH? Wow, are you smoking dope at work again? The USPS is a great deal and they are normally dependable. I use them in my business every day and they, like the UPS have NEVER let me down. Never.

And since the original column was about late delivery of the Clearlake Observer, the letter is off-topic besides.

The postal service is a perfect example of money-losing government operation. Get rid of it.

I live in Cobb and only have a post office box. Home delivery most likely will never occur in Cobb.

Cobb lacks shopping but one thing I will say is our local post office men and women deliver the mail on time, with smiles on their faces and lots of consideration to the box holders.

Sure, mail may end up in the wrong box from time to time but good golly, their human and we all make mistakes.

Have to agree with ya Ready for Action - Lucerne does a pretty darn good job also. And whenever I get someone elses mail, the print is so small I can see how they could mistake a 8 for a 6.

As for a ditching the USPS permanently - guess what, UPS FEDEX et al DO NOT DELIVER TO APO FPO addresses. The post office got many packages to the boys quite quickly and cheaply in Iraq with those flat rate boxes.

I might add that I quit subscribing to papers because I discovered our neighbors were sending their ids out to steal them.

Don't ya just hate when that happens, bad enough when they send their id's but some of the more brazen ones will send their ego's or super-ego's too.

Thanks, I needed a good laugh!)

Daily Horoscope for November 29

Cancer

If you've been troubled lately, now's the time to seek a friend's counsel. Even just a little tea and sympathy will be nice, so plan to have lunch with someone simpatico. Everyone needs to spend a little time with someone who won't judge them; Cancer is often wonderful at giving this sort of unconditional affection but often has a harder time seeking it out. Accept a little TLC... you need it now.
