Lake county Animal Control is of very little value as they very seldom even respond, much less resolve the complaints. On Cobb many neighbors in our Pine Summit neighborhood have for years complained about the dogs running free in packs, what has been done? Nothing. At one point they would patrol, but even that stopped. They are aware of the pet owners but are too lazy to get off their duffs and deal with the problems. The same repeat offenders show no concern for the law and the law shows no concern for the public.

I agree with you 100%. If Animal Control would focus on a particlar area and throw the book at the offenders the problems may not disappear completely but would improve and the public would be safer and more satisfied with local government. |

You have the right to protect yourself and your family. If you have large animals that threaten your safety and your ability to leave or enter your house - tis better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Shoot'em. If you don't have the stomach to use lead, get a paint ball gun, they sting like heck up close and I'm sure the neighbor will get the hint from the new colors their dogs are sporting. Pepper spray in the eyes works also, couple trips to the vet and your neighbor will view putting up a fence as a bargain.

It depends on who the offender is...
a hierarchy of shallow pals will always intervene and offer advise, to the chosen protected, on how to thwart the laws and still be a nuisance trespassing pooper without a scooper. |

We had many problems with people and dogs next door. We finally had to file a restraining order against them after threats. It would have been a big help if others in the area that were also having problems with them had supported us. They did not though they benefited from us going to court many times.
Keep records of every thing that is said or done by all involved. If not then the powers that be can not help much as it is just the neighbors word against yours. Animal control was a big help to us as we knew that they must follow rules and regulations from the state so we ask questions as to what is legal and worked with them. If all yo, they get defensive. I'm sure your male neighbor tried to sweet talk them into believing that it was all your fault and you were harassing them. Ours did, but the records we kept showed otherwise. Let the other party dig their hole. You must just stick to the facts. Work with the county not against them. I'm sure that some will say they tried this and got no where, but realize it may take up to six months to get resolved as you are only one of many LCAC has to deal with. And no we do not work for any government agency. So no privileged connections. |

Why should the animal suffer for the idiocy of the guardian.Does anyone, especially those with pets ever watch the dog training shows on tv? they're all over animal planet and national geographic. Hell, you don't even have to take the time to go to the library for books. Just tune in to "dog whisperer" on national geographic or "It's me or the dog" on animal planet. It's so freakin' simple it's laughable yet so many people would rather relinguish the animal or have the animal put down because it attacked someone. It is NEVER the animals fault. If the owner isn't caring enough to learn how to become the pack leader then you shouldn't have animals. I wish people would get over their "joy" for lack of better word at wanting to harm animals. Don't people know the Bible says:"Ask the animals and they will teach you". The roaming dogs, vicious dogs are trying to teach their owners something - I NEED A PACK LEADER! WAKE UP AND DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMETHING REALLY BAD HAPPENS.But I guess a lot of heads have to come out of the sand first. |

No offense to you personally but it seems to me the one's who need to get off their duffs are the irresponsible owners. Like I said it the reply to donna christopher, essentially, if people cannot learn how to become the leader or even take 1/2 hour or so a day to train the dog, you should not have one. Also, I'm sure animal control is underfunded and their hands are sometimes tied by the law. I've almost always had no problems with animal control. They've come out numerous times for the dogs roaming the street, when my dog nicked someone they quarantined her, and when a friends dog was nusiance barking they kept on top of it. Animal control should do something about roaming packs of dogs but too if the owners were better owners and trained their dogs we would not need animal control so much. This is not directed at you personally but I cannot believe peoples' lives are sooooo busy they cant take a little time each dog for training. |

oo
ooops! that last sentence should have read "little time each day for dog training". |

I had a neighbor who, according to animal control was trapping cats with a stolen trap, that they KNEW was stolen. They discovered he worked for the county and suddenly it was not longer important-even though he was also poisoning his neighbor's (not ours)cats. What got me was the 'ol boys mentality-working for the county is a form of immunity and permission. Most owners know to let their animals out preiodically to avoid detection or after hours and weekends. Yes, there is a leash law and it DOES have low priority. More distant areas are harder to get, so Cobb, The Riviera's and other places like that are hardly dealt with and the owners know this and basically don't care if you or I like it. It's basically like it or lump it. |

The leash should be kept on shady Liz Larson,'debriefing chair' and co-conspirator of the 'dinius' fiasco. Interesting to see who eventually gets charged as accessories to Lynn Thornton's murder. How conveniently she printed Hopkins biased sludge when it looked like he was gonna fry an innocent man. Now the tables have turned and the shady shades have been drawn. Who'se quaking now??

What in Gods Green Earth does this have to do with the topic of discussion? One might want to sober up prior to making these bizarre comments |

Obviously the issue is with the pet owners and that is the purpose of the LCAC, not to rehabilatate the pets but the owners. The problem has always been with the humans as the pets act out of instinct. The owners allow it! Animal training has absolutely nothing to do with this issue. Pet control or containment is the issue at hand which has been ignored in this County due to the fact we are considered RURAL. Although we are rural there are still laws intact to provide us protection from animal attacks. In our neighborhood about 3 blocks downhill from me there is a residense that actually has a horse in their front yard, which has had many complaints filed towards them. Nothing has ever been done by local athorities to resolve this issue, this is a residential community! If I lived in the immediate area I would be screaming about the flies and smell, but I dont. The entire neighborhood is very upset about this but the Animal Control and Code Compliance ignores all complaints. Wait until an airborn virus sickens our children and as usual they will respond after the fact. Provide the Tax payers what their dollars are intended for. |

It's not hard to guess who Mitchell let see the answers, and who he gave up to save himself. |

Mandy, you need to get help, seriously! You've gone completely mental, not that anyone would notice the change as it is a minor one, but still, it IS a change! |
