The Harsh rain overnight has led to some road flooding. There are several washed out roads in Appleton and Union including: North Union Road near the Guinea Ridge Road in Union, where a culvert let go overnight, washing out road.

MIDCOAST : There's plenty to do, even when it rains. As all residents of the north eastern United States know, if you are banking on cheap sunshine as the main feature of a New England vacation, you may not always get your wish.

UNION : The Walker Brothers Circus will return to the Union Fairgrounds on Thursday, July 9 for shows at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The shows will include aerial straps, comedy, juggling and international stars.

UNION : Matthew A. Jura graduated with the Class of 1999 from Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro, and from the University of Maine in 2003.

CAMDEN : The Camden Fire Department will host a regional training opportunity on Saturday, June 27 from 8 a.m. to noon that will involve fire departments from Camden, Rockland, Hope, Union, Appleton, Warren, Lincolnville, Northport and Searsmont.

ROCKLAND : More than 100 farms in Maine will participate in Open Farm Day on Sunday, July 26 by opening their doors to the public.

UNION : An 85-year-old woman said her efforts to recoup more than $75,000 from an insurance agent who borrowed money from her and her late husband have taken a terrible toll.

ROCKLAND : Local West African drumming and dancing sensation Djump! , led by Jeff Wolovitz of Lincolnville, will performing at the Rockland Summer Solstice celebration.

UNION : One of the oldest houses on the Union Common, located at 356 Common Road, was torn down June 4. According to the Union Historical Society, Samuel Cummings moved the house there in 1847 from its original location, which was across the street where the Vose Library stands today.

UNION : Whether to provide stipends to members of the volunteer fire department and give town employees raises dominated discussion at the annual Hope Town Meeting June 15.

ROCKPORT : Jim Guerra, manager of the Mid-Coast Solid Waste Corporation, is about ready to shave off the top of a hill of trash in Rockport.

The maid of honor was Jessalynn Haley of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and the bridesmaids were Charity Cyr of Thomaston and Martina Coburn of Sebago.
