An Ulster Park man was arrested Thursday night after, police said, he assaulted a man with a metal BMX bicycle peg and assaulted and tried to choke a woman during a fight.

The ribbon of river that flows through some of New York's most spectacular scenery becomes the backdrop for festivities that catch the spirit of the season.

For one, the history is there. Sure everyone knows about "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," but there are tons of historic houses, forts and sites with eerie backgrounds all their own.

But there is another way to raise more money for roads, and it's a big success in one state so far.
