This is a perfect example of why to always wear a shirt. Shirtless men always get arrested!

More and more criminals moving into our town it's getting worse than the bay area. If you take in account the ratio of our population and the amount of mentally ill and homeless people here it would out do San Francisco's if you take the ratio and add it to the population of SF. It is like the bay area is dumping all the freaks into Ukiah. Look at State Street and see what kinds of people you see walking on the sidewalks. Take a look at the park next to the Sun House on Main Street that is full of homeless and mentally ill people. Ukiah needs to bus these people out of Ukiah and put them back in the bay area or somewhere else.

Grrrr the journalism for our local paper is horrid... So the event happened at 11pm and the cops went back in time to 11am to investigate and find a possible suspect?? Wow do we really have that technology in Ukiah.... Okay enough smart remarks, seriously though, how come daily there are major mistakes in the writings for our local paper? Or am I just one that notices? Maybe I can be hired as a proof reader?
LOL have you seen the editor? I don't think they graduated high school if they allow errors to be published. |
I understand that news is to be reports hastily, but c'mon it's not the hard.. They are not reporting on great scientific breakthroughs with crazy spelling lol....
As a habitual pedestrian, I am amused. You misjudge. Take a look at people driving their cars; they could use a short (or long) walk on the sidewalk. |
Yep, lets cut public safety Ms. City Manager. Makes sense to me.
Did you see what Yep wrote? It ain't going to do nothing but get worse. Our freaking idiot group called City Council will shrink down our law enforcement to nothing and allow stuff like this to happen more and more. |
I agree on the Law Enforcement comment. I am very pro law enforcement but this place is ridiculous. There is almost no patrol officers seen driving around yet daily you see a plethora of idiots driving and violating a wide spectrum of the laws and not little ones. My street is a small street but for some reason it is the Indy 500 of Ukiah, for cops as well. They use it as a thorough fair at night doing about 50 in a 25, complain? naw it wont do anything. And daily I see youth getting high at various parks and smoking under age and not in school, aren't there truancy laws and drug laws>??????
As for the city council and the planning group, that is something to laugh at, I am not quite sure what their priorities might be, but it is not safety of the public, it surely isn't job's, it surely is not paving streets that actually need it, it surely is not providing cool places for out youth to play, skate, ride and grow, it surely is not for helping those that actually need help versus the weed growers who make a good deal of money but still go and get on welfare and medical because they act like they don't have money but drive to the welfare office in a new car, and not a new cheap car, a new lifted truck or SUV. Okay I can vent all day, and I know people will tell me to vote and change things locally, well it doesn't really work, the ball is set in motion and it is what it is. If I could afford it, I would move, but here I am.. Ironically though I love Ukiah, born and raised. But it is just different now.... |

It'd be nice if they put an approx age and sex of the victim in case someone was wondering where their loved one is.
I see they corrected the errors I was complaining about.. Cool...
...check out the Press Democrat for a more informative article...very normal for their newspaper, and they seem to have proofreaders. I have been reading the Ukiah Journal for years now, and there are typos DAILY throughout the paper. |

It is funny to me to hear the complaints about the homeless people on the streets. Each of us are not far from their very situation if we are not mindful of our finances and hopefully do not get sideswiped with one of life's unexpected challenges. Just three years ago I was working 3 jobs and making good money, still being very much involved with my kids because one of the jobs was within their school and I thought things were going great. I was driving home and got hit from behind by a teenager who was more interested in changing his CD player than my van in front of him. He hit me good! As a result (leaving technical things out) I ended up with needing brain surgery, not the kids fault. It has been three years now and I struggle now. Who would have known I would be here. I still have a home. Honestly, if it were not for my husband, I wouldn't have a home though. I could not have done this on my own.
So yes there are homeless out there the CHOOSE to live that way. But there are others that ended out there due to circumstances beyond their control. No they may not be the most savory people to hang out with, but I challenge you to volunteer at a center that works with them for a week or even a month. Your perspective will change. You will feel more angry about those who do not do enough for what is offered to them but your heart will break for those who are doing all the can with all the programs they are eligible for and they still seem to not be able to get up there. It will frustrate you to no end that there is not that last little boost they need to get out there and be more independent. That is my challenge to all on this board, do at least 10 hours of community service working directly with the homeless this holiday season and see what their stories really are. Like I said, some are out there because they choose it, others are there because it is all they can do to survive. And I have seen the law enforcement go about and talk to these people and move them along. My question is, where are they supposed to go? |

I hear the victim ia Anthony Rojas. Age: Young 20's.
Gang banger vs gang banger. Both red raggers. If victim dies it will be a "twofer", two for one.

Yet another Marijuana deal gone bad, no doubt

Small communities everywhere are suffering from the same social conditions. No county money, homelessness, drugs, and gangs. Ukiah isn't unique. Neither is Ukiah "special". Every community thinks it was the best until.....just add one of the social ills. And, no one seems to know what to do. The answer is one of morals. At the county level vote for what is right and good for the community regardless of monetary or personal gain. Talk to the homeless and offer encouragement and volunteer your time to help. Stop locking people up who use drugs and get them into rehab. Gang members are socially isolated - so talk to the families, befriend where you can - pull them into community activities. Big goals for all. Come out of your small, tight, safe little world.

Get rid of illegals.
Don't speak English? Probably an illegal.
you are the bigest idiot I know. There are many US citizens and legal residents who don't speak english and most red raggers are US citizens native americans to be exact. |
