One of largest drug busts in Pennsylvania history. Not for cocaine or pot -- but for psychedelic mushrooms.

A Pennsylvania man was arrested Wednesday after being accused of transporting large amounts of controlled substances on Interstate 70 near New Castle.

A suspected psilocybin mushroom-growing operation discovered by Tyrone police is one of the biggest ever found by police in Pennsylvania, state narcotics agents said Friday.

Pennsylvania Avenue between 10th and 11th streets in Tyrone opened late Friday afternoon after state narcotics agents and the Blair County Hazardous Materials Team dismantled and cleaned up a suspected psychedelic mushroom growing operation.

As firefighters climbed the roof of Sarris Candies' ice cream parlor Friday, president Bill Sarris reflected on how his family's old-school approach to expansion, building piece by piece over the years, may have saved the well-known Canonsburg location from further damage.

John Franco's 18-year tenure as Tyrone Area High School football coach has taken another step closer to ending, while, perhaps not coincidentally, Altoona seems to be on the verge of deciding who'll be its football coach this fall.

The heaviest snow was across the Centre County line in Blair County along Interstate 99, said meteorologist Aaron Tyburski.

Several fire crews responded to a blaze in Blair County Friday night. The fire broke out little before 7:00 at a home in Snyder Township.
