The town of Tusayan debated giving additional funds to the Grand Canyon School community park project at their May 16 regular meeting.

More than 92,000 people boarded the shuttles last year as a way to cut down on vehicle congestion inside the national park.

"We have received an offer of the town manager's resignation and we are in the process of finalizing a separation agreement," Tusayan Mayor Greg Bryan said.

The U.S. Forest Service plans to set a fire south of Tusayan and the Grand Canyon's south Rim this week.

The Tusayan Route shuttle will be available from May 12 through September 7 and will run at 15-minute intervals between 8 a.m. and 9:30 p.m., daily.
