In Dyer County Circuit Court on Oct. 5-6: * Former Trimble Police Chief Donald W. Bennett, 52, 2550 Eastwood Drive in Trimble, received an effective six-year sentence on a variety of drug-related charges.

Two men accused of trying to kill a woman were indicted this month. Albert O'Brien "Dirty" Dewalt, 25, 909 Fair St., and Kenyatuah Antwane "YaYa" Harris, 34, 1375 Cumberland Ave., face charges of attempted first-degree premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
