Fort Worth girl out of hospital; mom awaits extradition

An 11-year-old Fort Worth girl found on the edge of a New Mexico forest nearly a week after she went missing has been released from a Taos hospital, and her mother is awaiting extradition to Texas on charges of aggravated assault and endangering a child, officials said Monday.

Missing Fort Worth 11-year-old found in New Mexico

Jessica Smith and her mother, Kimberly were located in their vehicle, nine miles south of Tres Piedras, New Mexico, an area on the edge of Carson National Forest, according to a release sent by Fort Worth Police.

Fort Worth mother, daughter involved in abduction are found safe
