Trent Woods Commissioner Chip Hughes kicked off the regular May board meeting here by raising his hand for a new commission seat.

Tyson was elected unanimously to head the Transportation Advisory Council, with New Bern Alderman Johnnie Ray Kinsey elected vice chairman at the MPO's first official meeting.

A proposed tall structures ordinance that has received two public hearings by the Craven County Board of Commissioners is expected to get a vote at today's 7 p.m. meeting of the board.

"I am deeply concerned that Walter Jones, as a longstanding member of the House Armed Services Committee, but never having held a leadership position, has failed to effectively utilize the honor and privilege of serving on this very important panel," said Dacey in a news release.
