Evelyn Farley, 95, passed away on May 26 at her Princeton home with daughters Joan Mandell and Judy O'Brien at her side.

Lisa Bettner , office manager for Reagan Middle School in Tiskilwa, accepts the final donation of aluminum pull tabs and Box Tops for Education from Carol Allicks, president of Auxiliary Unit 125.

The event will begin 30 minutes earlier this year, with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and will go on sale soon.

The Bureau County Genealogy Society meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Society library, 629 S. Main St.

St. Louis Catholic School is sponsoring a “Tech Out Our School Raffle” for electronic upgrades and purchases.

Although the land that comprises Bureau County has been around since the beginning of time, and men and women have walked its rolling hills and prairies for thousands of years, Bureau County as a county has only existed for 175 years.

Nellie was born on Sept. 17, 1931, in Hayden, Colo., the daughter of Antonne and Sylvia Mae Ranner.
