What? There were no druken crazy people starting fights and running over little children with the vehicles? But the prohibition crowd told us that serving beer was going to cause all types of problems and lawsuits would follow.

what happened to buddy later in life? the person who knows that answer probably knows where wtvn's john fraim ended up too. |

Huh? A one day event is screwing up fishing and attracting maniacs? Maybe you just shouldn't leave your home. |

1 You and Art should get together. I think you would make an ideal couple. Better yet, just move in together as soon as possible. That way you two would only be spoiling one household, rather than two. |

1 Since 1974, boating traffic has increased to the point where you don't dare take your family out on the weekend due to irresponsible Jetskiers, Wakeboarders, Powerboaters, and Sailboaters! GEESH...during a warm weekend in the summer, the lake looks like an L.A. FREEWAY at rush hour! Let's also mention how ODNR is allowing "Privatization" of parts of the lake! There's one COVE that's only accessible to Alum Creek Power Boat Club that includes docks, restrooms, etc, and DAMN the rest of us if we want to tie up for a few minutes to use the restroom! So now, part of the lake is going to be cordoned off "twice a year" to allow racing?? And how soon will The American Power Boat Association be LEASED their own COVE? Question is...WHO'S GOT THE MONEY? ODNR...enough is enough! |

1 So now, part of the lake is going to be cordoned off "twice a year" to allow racing?? And how soon will The American Power Boat Association be LEASED their own COVE? Question is...WHO'S GOT THE MONEY? ODNR...enough is enough![/QUOTE] Get your facts straight. The Alum Creek Power Boat Club (of which I am NOT a member) does not have a private cove or anything "private" on that lake. If ODNR does anything, they should build more docks to allow Ohioans to have better access to the lake. As for fisherman, they are a vital part of the lake community, but Alum Creek is one of the largest inland lakes with unlimited horsepower areas that provides the safest opportunities for water skiing and tubing. There are multitudes of coves and areas north of Cheshire Road with speed limits that provide wonderful opportunities for good fishing. As for restroom facilities, ODNR needs to have more temporary parking spaces at the marina so that we could actually run in and use flushable toilets, or have a bite to eat at the restaurant. Heck put a meter there, I would pay in order to use a flush toilet. The biggest problem I have are the sailboaters who insist on running in the safest areas for skiing. If you have a problem with a private cove, I suggest you take it up with the Commodore of the sail boat club who have been guilty of running the public out of "their" cove and out of "their" facilities. No power boats are even allowed to come near their docks, nor can they dock a powerboat there. I have always thought that the sailboaters should be over on Hoover since the City of Columbus refuses to allow increased speeds for skiing. |

AMEN, Brother! |
||||
And your convinced that Griggs Reservoir or O'Shaughnessy Reservoir would be "safer" by "raising the speed limit" to ski? You're kidding right? Wow! |

1 OK, my bad! You were correct, I meant The Alum Creek Sailing Association! HOWEVER, Alum Creek Powerboat Club has proposed to ODNR, a 200 slip dock east of the New Galena ramp for POWERBOATS ONLY! THAT would effectively PRIVATIZE ANOTHER "COVE"! SO THERE! My facts are straight now and confirms my question...WHO HAS THE MONEY? |
||||
|
And if you know anything about the proposal, such money will BUILD THE DOCKS and ownership will remain in the hands of ODNR who leases the park from the Army Corp of Engineers. Again, I urge you to do your research before you start yellin' about something that just isn't true. Plus, the sailing association's "cove" is not privatized. The association has been guilty in the past as treating it as so, but it is not.

||||
Isn't the plan to develop a regular racing program here? Yeh, we really want that.....NOT |
||||
Not yet, but soon...very soon. Take your boats and go home. State park....fishing community, not racing community. Many of us gave up our homes for that resevoir. NO THANKS. |
