Timberwood Park Elementary School went into formal lockdown around 9:30am yesterday morning at the request of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, when a man reported panthers being on the loose, which ended up being a false alarm.

Timberwood Park Elementary School was among only 15 schools in Texas and only 275 in the country recognized for "transforming their campuses into healthier places," by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating allegations of racial profiling made against a deputy by residents of a north Bexar County neighborhood.

Comal ISD's newest campus, Kinder Ranch Elementary, is on schedule to open on August 22, the first day of the upcoming school year.
