Polk-who was inducted to the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009 after a career in which he won 1,373 games in 35 seasons as a head coach at Georgia Southern, Mississippi State and Georgia-kept the audience entertained with jokes and funny stories but also had an important message for the youth in attendance.

Justin Macks, a sixth grader at Jemison Middle School, had the last word at the Chilton County Spelling Bee on Tuesday, Feb.

The Thorsby Town Council voted Monday to make the stops four-way where Jones Street meets Dakota Road and South Dakota Road after complaints of excessive speed.

Thorsby High School is in need of a new sound system and stage equipment and they have been slowly inching toward the funds needed to buy them.

"As far as I know, all power has been restored," Haigler said. "The only reason that someone's power may not be restored would be if the power box pulled away from the house." The town has started cleaning up the roads.

No injuries or damages were reported in Jemison and Thorsby following the storms that moved through Chilton County early Monday morning.

The Chilton County Commission could have altered the composition of the county's 911 board but decided not to-perhaps a vote of confidence for a group that has 911 on a successful path.
