If this is how he treats his employees, I can't imagine how he treats his guests. I kinda feel sorry for the poor guy. He's a conservative, so he probably doesn't know any better. Hopefully, the boycott will spread to his other properties, and he'll learn how to run a business.

part of the country which has a very rich and diverse history and make behave like it's South Carolina or 1964.

Yes, he has the right to tell his employees to speak English. But he sure does not have the to change there names. He need to open up some history books and learn about the "GENTE OF TAOS AND NEW MEXICO"

First, read a history book. The employees are not Mexican. There is nothing about immigration in this story.
What Whitten doesn't seem to understand, is that people visit Taos to experience the cultural diversity. Anglicizing the staff is bad for business. How would he react if a Anglo customer came in and started speaking Spanish with the staff?
Businesses have been sued before, for mandating that the employees speak English. It would be great if they sued him for enough to take the hotel; and set it up as an employee owned business, true to their cultures. That would be justice.
