It be nice to know how in the world they were able to conclude, so quickly, that this was done deliberately.

Well, let's see. All 3 homes were unoccupied, basically abandoned, so it's not as though a resident had an accident with a candle, the furnace or the stove. It wouldn't take the chief and the fire marshall very long to determine if it was electrical in nature. Anything other than electrical in nature could only be arson in such a case. I'm betting the neighbors wish the code enforcement officer would have had the proper legal tools to force the owner to take care of the property. Oh, right, you don't believe in code enforcement.

I LIVE IN THE SOUTH WARD AND LET ME TELL YOU THAT FIRE WAS BAD .. AND THE PERSON THAT SET THAT FIRE SHOULD BE VERY LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS IN THAT FIRE .. I FEEL SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT LIVED NEXT TO THE ROW HOMES .. DID YOU EVEN THINK OF WHAT YOU WERE DOING ? THE HOUSE RIGHT NEXT TO THE FIRE HAD AN OLD COUPLE NEXT TO IT ..WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE IF THAT HOME WENT UP IN FLAMES AND THAT COULP DID NOT GET OUT .. YOU WOULD HAVE KILLED TO PEOPLE .... NOW I KNOW SOME OF THE LAW AND I WOULD HAVE PUT YOU ASS IN JAIL FOR MURDER....BECAUSE YOU WERE THAT DUMB TO ONLY THINK OF YOUR SELF .... AND TO ALL THE FIRE FIGHTERS THAT WERE THERE I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR KEEPING THAT FIRE FROM GETTING TO THE OLD COUPLE NEXT TO THAT HOUSE... HATS OFF TO YOU ALL FOR A JOB WELL DONE.....

So what you're saying is, it is okay for a person to criticize the PA State Police fire marshal, completely baselessly I might add, but I am the horrible big mouth. HMMM!

Enfoce codes? You got to be kidding me. If they would enforce any codes the towns population would go down that much that you might as well remove Tamaqua from the map. I would hate to know how many people are in this town that collect welfare and everything else (my quess would be that the South Ward area takes 1st place in Tamaqua). But the real question to me is does the Fire Department even care about the people in town? First off I hear a lot of people complaining that they do not acknowledge kids during parades even if the parade is meant for them (I'm sure I'll hear more tonight on how neighboring departments are better). But mainly I would have to say they don't being that the morning of the fire granted there were alot of departments there, but who was going to assist with anything else that could have happened in town? Not one of the trucks that were at the fire were able to get out in a timly fashion and I drove past all four stations in town where I normaly see who is there but not this time.
This puts the fire department with the police and the government "We are here if you need us but otherwise forget you"

Bob, you have a big bad chip on your shoulder.
I have the right to question anyone in government when I don't trust them.
If you don't care, well, sit back and enjoy what appears to be so great in your eyes.

About code enforcement, there is the right way and the wrong way. When the power is held by people who have a reputation for holding grudges, and have not been forthcoming with information we the people want to know, NO I don't want to get them involved in very much.
You people are your own worst enemies.
The town complainers are both the annoyances and the God-sent of the Borough.
Do what you think is right, and I'll do the same.

"Timely Fashion" Are you stoned? The F.D. arrived in approx. 5 mins. after the sirens sounded at 5 something in the morning. Not bad for a F.D. that dosen't have staffing in there stations! Wake up, try living in a city that has paid staffing that takes double that to arrive. But then you'd be crying about paying for that service too! Also try hooked on phonics!!!

Great Post! As far as support, in the past if all Tamaqua engines were required to fight the fire both New England and Hometown were alerted and they provided Mutual Aid. At times bringing one of their engines to stand by at the American Hose. Professional coverage from an all volunteer fire fighting system!

Looks like someone needs to go back to the 1st grade. Nothing was said about the responce time but since you brought it up, what is AHCO (assuming since they got the video) affraid of fire? First it took 25 second just to pull a hose to the hydrant (hmmm 30 ft truck and then maybe 8 ft to hydrant) shouldn't take that long I could walk a full block in that time. Second they stopped at the intersection just before the fire for a min and a half and let EE go by them. During all this time SW was already in front of the place doing nothing like it took them the full 2 min (giving them a bit of time credit) to even get near the house with a hose. What they have a blonde moment? Ummm what puts out fire...... oh ya water. If AH stopped just to wait for the ladder to get by that is the stupidest thing ever as there were enough people to move the hose out of the way of the truck like they had to when east end past them. And since i see a comment coming about hose being in the way of the ladder, there was someone walking down the street that coulda helped move it aside to allow it. But to get back to the timely fashion statement, that was not said in reguards to responce, that was said in reguards to if something else happened in town while that fire was going on.

Watch for yourselfs. http://www.ahco1tamaqua.com/VIDEO.html

Well you need to read your post because that "Timely Fashion" statement is not clear as to the Fire trucks operating at the fire. Could another department be brought into cover the town? Yes, But lets be real this is Tamaqua not New York, how many times is there more that one fire call at a time. Yes I Suppose it possible. As far as the actions onscene I can not comment, I was leaving for work and did not watch the events unfold as you stated in your post. But I will not bash a group of volunteers! In my eyes I beleive they all did a great job. The fire was contained to the three houses and did not spread to the upper house and as far as I know no one was hurt! And the way I look at it is that it cost me and my wife a simple donation of fifty dollars in January. Since you seem to know all the proper tatics of Firefighting I recommend you volunteer like them! Its easy to sit back and arm chair quaterback, but it takes balls to do what they do.

sorry but i know i didn't set it. I might know a awful lot about it since my fiance lives in the area and I was at her house that night and with the exception of the initial walk to find the exact address we watched it from her room untill I had to leave for work
