The Swenson Fire started on Wednesday, April 6th near Aspermont, TX in Stonewall County, burning in rough terrain and heavy fuels.

Wildfires continue to spark across the Big Country today, with a new fire reported in Eastland County.

An uncontrolled wildfire that has scorched tens of thousands of acres in Haskell, Knox and Stonewall counties is now the largest fire in the U.S. On Sunday officials with the Texas Forest Service said their estimate of the fire - which broke out Wednesday near Aspermont in Stonewall County - was 71,000 acres.

No containment of a four-day range fire was reported Saturday evening as high winds whipped the state's largest blaze in a mostly northeasterly direction across three counties.

The aggressive wildfire that started in Stonewall County Wednesday, jumped the Brazos River and raged through several adjoining counties, is the most massive range fire in the state.
