Due to extreme rainfall in some parts of Miami-Dade County, the South Florida Water Management District is operating the extensive flood control system as it was designed to move large amounts of water quickly and efficiently.

South Florida water managers are working hard to deal with floods. However, as bad as the flooding in Sweetwater and Doral has been, it could have been worse if it weren't for the C-4 Impound Pumping Station.

The heavy rains prompted the National Weather Service to issue an urban flood advisory for portions of Miami-Dade County including Doral, Hialeah and Kendale Lakes and Sweetwater, until 7:15 p.m. At around 3 p.m, a flash flood advisory had been in effect for Northeastern Miami-Dade County and an urban flood advisory for Central Broward County.
