Is this really happening? Is this what mature voting adults argue about?

Yep, it is and that is why Los Angeles is in the toilet and I got out before somebody flushed. Unfortunately the whole country is not far behind so it wasn't really an escape.

Two dishonest people who bought their position as candidates. In the U.S our governement is for sale, and democracy is lost. It is my experience that the press will not report who is buying these politicians.

If they want to host the debate rent a place in Los Angeles. This shows you how out of touch Government is They do not want to hold a debate in their Dist. Government is not working with it is he people who can not run it. from the Top down. Government needs and over haul. We need a model from another State who can pay thei r bills.

Since neither Essel or Krekorian live in CD2, what difference does it make where the debate is?(Based on the map, it looks like Woodbury is mostly in CD2).

Yes, Woodbury is in LA. No, that's not a major trip from Studio City. Only a moron says otherwise.

Woodbury has made numerous attempts to convince Burbank to use its eminent domain power to bring them into Burbank, but LA has always resisted the move. Obviously, a Burbank address is more lucrative and prestigious for Woodbury because everyone associates chaos and mismanagement with LA. Burbank government has the same problems as LA government, but on a much smaller scale so it's much easier to manage with some degree of effectiveness.

Perhaps VICA should hold the debate in Hollywood to accomodate Chris Essel's commute and reduce her carbon footprint.

A developer named Christopher Alan (Dasher-Lawless)who wants to build a hotel and offices up to 7 stories tall on Victory Blvd, next to a church and single family homes, bought Paul Krikorian.

Woodbury prides itself on being in Burbank.
The main gate is in LA..

This should decided by which City gets to collect the tax dollars.

This location debate needs to send a message to those debating it; get a life.
Even more dumb is Bob Kramer's comment: "They're in the city of Sun Valley."
Sun Valley is NOT a city, it is a comunity within the city of Los Angeles.

These are reason's why some people should not be allowed to vote.

I looked up this Bob Kramer character. Apparently, he's a former Burbank gadfly, turned politician, turned bureaucrat. Smart enough to use politics to get a city job, not smart enough to realize that Sun Valley is LA.

PK's District Office is in Burbank.
His family still lives in Burbank.
Why not conduct the debate in Burbank?
Then, the next debate can be in Hollywood where CE lives.
Shame on the City Clerk’s office for qualifying these two carpetbaggers.
Shame on CD2 voters for letting it happen.

Correction - the quote "I didn't know Sun Valley/Burbank from Studio City is a major trip. What would you do if Sunland-Tujunga had a debate? Apply for a passport?" did not come from Waldman. It is attributable to me as I made the remark in response to McGrath's protest email, which he copied me on.

Looks like press release journalism had devolved to email journalism.

Interesting set of comments.

VICA is a private organization not the government and neither candidate is involved in the selection of debate sites.

VICA could hold their debate on the Moon if they wanted to. Then, its up to the candidates and potential audience to show up if they want to or not.

That's how America works.

I don't have a dog in this fight, GeoGirl since I'm not in their district, but for the record Essel does NOT live in Hollywood - it's the Hollywood Hills and just a mile across the hill from the CD2 side. But being from WHITTIER you wouldn't know that, and why do you care?

Hollywood Hills is a neighborhood.
Hollywood is a city recognized by the USPS.

FYI: Neither Topix nor USPS are exactly discrimination, where it comes to thier random place name generators.

E.g., LAEQHQ is in "Hollywood",(no more a "city" then “Studio”) just a red carpet walk from Krekorian's district, and we use Los Angeles, Hollywood, or Los Feliz, depending on who we wanna impress. Heck, we could probably even get away with Silver Lake!

Er, that is, neither are discrimination, and we don't understand the alternation of Encino and Simi Valley with our posts...

Daily Horoscope for January 1

Libra

Happy New Year, Libra!. How's that poor old body feeling this morning?! If you're having a gathering, include casual acquaintances or newcomers as if they were one of the family. You're a real social animal and you know how to put people at their ease. This is a wonderful talent: not only do you have a network of friends and social contacts, as well as business ones, but you have the ability to bring others together. Perhaps you should start a dating agency this year!
