Will Derting's "variety of special events" at the waterfront, where he lives, beat the "transparency" and "No on WalMart" of Cain? Stay tuned.

I find absolutely no reason to cast my vote here. His "goals" for Suisun City includes only projects that have either been completed or are currently in progress. He also takes credit for each of those projects as though they were his own doing. While it is true he's had a hand in many of them, none of those projects were accomplished, or even approved, by Mr. Derting alone. It feels very much as if Mr. Derting is riding the coattails of a lot of other folks, but telling the public he's the driver.
I also would like to know about Mr. Derting's promise 4 years ago to only run for one term.

Why are you confusing the voters with facts? Was that "promise" in writing? If the council approved the projects, then it follows that Derting is right in claiming credit, savvy? The mayor and the others can waitfor their turn in 2010 to claim their parts of the credit, can't they?

Confusing voters with facts? Pardon? You can't be serious.
As I said above, "goals" are for FUTURE projects, not past or current one. What are Mr. Derting's goals for the FUTURE of Suisun City? Since this article is about Mr. Derting and not the council as a whole, it seems he should focus on what he's done. I'm well aware of what the whole council has done and so is pretty much anyone who lives here.
And yes, his promise to run for only one term was in writing. It appeared in several news stories as a quote directly from Mr. Derting. He also didn't make it any secret during his campaign, reiterating again and again he was in it for only one term. Why can't he just say he's changed his mind because (fill in the blank)? If that's the case, fine.
Is it really unfair to ask questions that concern me before selecting a candidate to vote for? Sorry if the facts confuse you, but it's the facts that lead me to a decision.

the facts are that Suisun has no future, no funding sources, and a residency that would prefer to fight over the few things that might keep their fair city from faltering. like all the businesses that can't weather the current economic storm, Suisun City will soon be eaten up and bought by the county.
