As a former student (and graduate) of IHM Seminary in Lenox, I participated in the dedication ceremony this past weekend at Canyon Ranch in Lenox. My years at Bellefontaine were 1963 to 1967.
Every one of us appreciates the interest that Canyon Ranch management has in our story and we are pleased that they made this weekend possible. It was especially nice to meet Smitty Pignatelli, whose mother was our Spanish teacher in the school year 1965-1966. Thanks for a nice article - the Berkshires were, as always, beautiful. |

If you are going to tell the history of Bellefontaine perhaps a mention of the original owners, the Foster family, should have been included...since without them there would have been no building and therefore no school. "Boy" Foster was the last of the cottagers who actually lived in the mansion. And...as far as I m concerned the school did little more than deface the property by removing all the statuary that made the grounds beautiful.

Maybe canyon ranch can convert the property back to some type of school when it goes belly up.
