You couldn't be more right. The intersection that this happen at has dozens of accidents a year. You would think the township or even the state would get a light up there ASAP! Spend the stimulus money the right way and help to save lives!! Trying to get out at that intersection is next to impossible. What is it going to take?? A whole family.. or maybe a school bus full of kids??? My child goes through that intersection everyday while riding a bus from school and I pray to god he will make it home safely. My heart goes out to the family of all the people involved. Hopefully something will be done before anymore lives are lost!!!!

Putting in a light would hurt the economy by taking work away from tow truck operators, body shops, undertakers, and trial lawyers.

Every inch of every highway; city, suburbs, rural, interstate is a potential accident waiting to happen. We are so worried about swine-flu...I always tell people...better be careful when driving down Route 30, or Route.....

You're an idiot!!! Try to think before you open your mouth and say something so stupid... if you were trying to be funny, did you even think that these victims families & friends may very well read this??? This was a horrible ordeal for everyone, including Emergency Responders...I did not find your post funny at all.

I live right around that area. That resturant there has a SHRIMP SIGN on the edge of the road that DOSE NOT NEED TO BE THERE, because you have to pull out far to see. AT night they have a light that shines on the sign that Blinds you. The light is in you eye's. I see alot and it happen to me that car's pass you in a NO PASS ZONE the whole way along that road. There needs to be more patrols in that area. The Township or State needs to tell that Resturant to move that Shrimp SIGN, BRIGHT LIGHT and Also the TREE'S or more & more people will get hurt or Killed. My mother was killed in a car and I know how hard that is to handle.

you can get through all of the uncontrolled intersections around here. Folks who are in a rush and won't take the time to wait are their own worst enemy.

There are intersections in Hanover also that can be dangerous cause of cars that are park close to the intersection instead of back farther, so I just creep up til I can see then go when clear. That all we all can do and not be in a hurry.

I feel for the family. sorry for your lost, hope at least the 11 year old will be ok.

Are you referring to Labott Rd. & Rt. 30? That intersection definitely needs a light and many people have been killed there over the 19 years I've lived in this area. I have to cross that intersection several times a day. This accident happened at Roth's and Rt. 30. where Rt. 30 Seafood Restaurant and the car lot is. My sincere sympathy to the family and friends who have lost a loved one and God's blessings to the little boy.

Please keep in mind that friends and family members may read this. Even though I didn't know Chuck well, I find this post offensive. I know he was a devoted father and a good person. There is an 11 year old child that will grow up without a father, which I experienced and is devastating. It doesn't matter who's at fault. We can all point fingers, and what is it going to change?

This is what CAN be changed:

I also agree with a previous poster...how many lives have to be lost on Route 30 and other antiquated roads before changes are made? How many people have to lose loved ones before our roads are brought up to 21st century standards? We don't drive horse and buggies anymore. It sickens me to see how our government wastes money, the stimulus money being a perfect example, and can't make these improvements. Only when this state starts to be found civilly liable will these changes be made.

God bless you Chuck and we wish Ian a speedy recovery.

Yes, friend and family are reading this. Right now there's an 11 year old boy laying in the critical unit and people are cracking jokes. I've never quite understood why the Internet brings out the absolute worst in people.... but it does.

Chuck was a Son, a Husband, a Father of two, an amazing bass player and a Scout leader. He was a great person who will be dearly missed.

Digger, hopefully someone will be able to say the same for you when your time comes.

First of all the York newspapers should have more class than what they have why would you post a picture of an injured child in PAIN in your papers and why would you do that to them.I will never read or purchase your paper again you people are cold hearted sick people. I hope the child makes a speedy and healthy recovery. How do you sleep at night do you have kids or a heart?

Is this the Chuck that worked at the Phillips group?

If so...I am terribly saddened to see this loss. Like myself, I am sure he would be more heart broken about his children losing their father rather he would be about himself.

Godspeed Chuck...it was a pleasure to have known and worked with you.

I have to agree any part of route 30 is bad be it from philly to pittsburg and yes it runs that far. I feel sorry for the family. For those that come on here to complain about the government should do this the govenment should do that, how about go to your local township / boro or were ever you live and attend some meetings and have your voices heard. To the families involed our thoughts and prayers.
