It's called trying to save lives. Younger, more inexperienced drivers are the most unsafe ones on the road. Legislation is coming. Sorry, all you texters, you are going to have more rules.

So are we assuming that the younger driver was at fault? Because it wasn't really clear in the article and to say that this happened because of young inexperienced drivers is not fair in this situation. It could have been the 62 year old who maybe shouldn't be driving anymore!?? You never know!

The 62 year old woman is a family member of mine. She is paralyzed from the neck down after the accident. I'm not placing blame, as I am a younger driver, but the 3 teenage boys in the other car are definately more of a risk than an older, experienced adult driver. It's is such a tragedy for all involved.

I cannot tell you how many times carloads of teenagers pass me as I do the speed limit (50MPH) on MD RT 136. I just pray they learn to slow down before a tragedy like this happens again. It is my understanding that the teenager driver was doing 80MPH! Slow down!!!!

How about before we all assign blame we let the police do their job and investigate the accident. The last time I checked there were no drivers who drove on water if you get my meaning.

sorry to your relative but stop blaming younger drivers cause elders driving skills are just as dangerous. let the police do there thing. how do you know the elder wasnt at fault? i know that road and people always drive to much towards the center to often. you also have the unrealistic blogger about limited people with drivers under 21. what about the senior citizens that pack in cars and drive 20 mph under the speed limit. that is just as dangerous as someone speeding. that will never happen. maybe 18 but not 21 get real lady.

Old people make mistakes but I think it's safe to say that more often than not they aren't driving at excessive speeds when they make their mistakes. Generally speaking.

I am the mother of the 14yr old that was in this accident and for ANYONE to be on here tryin to place blame on anyone really saddens me. My main concern, as should everyone elses, is the status of all the victims in this accident. Key word is ACCIDENT!!!! Neither driver would have ever done anything to cause such a tragedy.

My son is home and recovering and there is not a minute that passes I am not thankful for him still being here with me. I am not looking to place blame on anyone and neither should anyone else.

The world has really become a sad place when the welfare of a human being is sidelined over discussion about who should be blamed.

I am sorry to hear about the driver of the other vehicle and will continue to keep her and her family in my prayers.

As for the other 2 boys that were in the car with my son, I pray daily for them as well. They put my sons welfare before their own and it could have been their selflessness that saved his life. I love them boys and will forever think of them as an extension of my own family.

I have all the victims and their families in my prayers.

Come on, 180MPH!!!! Have you ever been on Blevins Rd?? If you had, you would know that speed is imposssible to reach on that road. It's too windy with blind corners. If you really read the person's comment on what speed she heard the boys doing it was "80" MPH. So next time you wanna blast someone's comment make sure you know what you're talking about.

Ug seriously people...I have talked to the driver on a daily basis and I can assure you he wasn't doing neither 80mph or 180mph. People are so quick to judge based on hearsay; I thought this is was seperated adults from children is that adults don't base their judgement on rumors, they wait to hear the facts.

I am not going to feed this frenzy anymore...I realize this is a place for opinions on what happened so I will choose to accept that and acknowledge that not everyone has the facts so they are simply posting their opinion...regardless of how ignorant it may sound.

With that being said, I will continue to keep all the vicitms and their families in my prayers.

First, 62 is hardly 'old'-- except maybe from the perception of a teenager. Second, as far as the police are concerned, they received several calls that week reporting several boys that fit that description in a similar Toyota Celica were doing what appeared to be close to 80 on those back roads. This was shared directly from the people who made those calls, which were corroborated. At least two of the calls came from two separate sources. Does it mean that they are at fault? Not necessarily, but it certainly increases the likelihood and speaks to their overall judgment. Does it mean the welfare of all concerned isn't important? Of course not. That said, having spoken to people on the scene I can tell you that all concerned are confident that speed played a significant role. It's a tragedy for all concerned. Rest assured there are lives that have been devastated and hearts broken. Permanently.

If it were my family involved, I wouldn't be on topix pleading my case. Who cares. After they remove the cellphone from the teens butt, maybe he will be a better driver, but I doubt it.

I hate to burst everyones bubble on this so called reporting of the flying car...... The boys in that car couldn't have been the same as the driver had just gotten his car BACK ON THE ROAD 2 days PRIOR again I say 2 days PRIOR to the accident and one of those 2 days his father drove it to work! As for the boys in the car one of the passengers was not even in this area over the last several weeks and the other was in school! So I am aware of the fact there are actually 3 cars with the same description lets just get WHO it is straight. Being the mother of one of the passengers I can tell you this, I thank GOD every day as I always have for my children and now also for the other victims involved.

I also have the family and the lady in the other vehicle in our prayers and will continue to do so. It was a horrific accident that God spared all. If not we all wouldn't be on here throwing rediculous accusations and blame we would be planing funerals! Lets just pray that all involved heal. As for my son he is in a wheelchair and is and will be under doctors care for some time for his injuries. You don't see me crucifying anyone including the 2 drivers. Bless all and their families!
