Drunk drivers who kill should be executed.

Drunk drivers who kill are just as guilty of murder as Matthew Gretz, the alleged human being who intentionally and viciously murdered his wife Kira in Minneapolis a year ago by brutally stabbing her more than 30 times.

Drunk drivers intentionally drink, intentionally get drunk and intentionally drive drunk. The foreseeable consequences of driving drunk include killing innocent victims who find themselves in the path of the reckless drunk driver. No one has to drive drunk: call a family member or friend; call a cab; check into a hotel; step in front of a moving train locomotive; do SOMETHING besides choosing to get behind the wheel of a car and drive.

Drunk driving that directly causes the death of innocent victims should be a federal capital crime. Each and every one of the 50 states should cherry pick the most strict and punitive drunk driving laws of Canada and the Scandinavian countries and include these laws in their own drunk driving statutes. The states that have capital punishment should make drunk driving that directly causes the death of innocent victims a capital crime.

I have to agree with the man in the article, why was the drunk (repeatedly) driver allowed access to a WMD? Think I'm mistaken about the WMD designation for his weapon? The CDC states that 9% of bullet wounds are fatal, and the FBI says that only 5% of all bullets fired in a firefight actually hit someone, which makes bullets 0.45% fatal. The NHTSA says that in a 20 MPH crash (the speed limit of most school zones to "protect" our children) 5% of people, cyclists or pedestrians hit by motor vehicles die which makes motor vehicles more than 10 times as fatal as bullets (and by extension, guns) and the comparison gets even worse as the speed of the motor vehicle is increased, at 30 MPH motor vehicles are 50% fatal, 40MPH is 85%, 50 is 95% and 60 MPH against a cyclist or pedestrian is 99% fatal. The truck that hit me was doing 65 while I was riding home from work.
