Deputies lock man in bathroom after domestic dispute

Neighbors called deputies to the 38800 block of SW 2nd Place in Scio after a woman's three ran for help on Monday around 3:30 a.m. The two men told deputies that they tried to separate the couple and restrain Tyler Michael Burnard, 29, inside the master bedroom.

Waterpower has always been a major component of this area of Marion County. Stayton was founded by Drury Smith Stayton, who purchased 29 acres of forest land in 1866 and, with his son, began digging a ditch off the North Santiam River to bring water to the industries of the town that would be named for him.

Crash knocks out power for 1,000

The Marion County Sheriff's Office received a call about the crash at the intersection of Shaff Road and West Stayton Road SE, south of Aumsville, at 10:57 p.m. When first responders arrived, they found the driver had hit a sign pointing the way to Aumsville and Stayton before crashing into the power pole, said Deputy Jacob Thompson.

Santiam students enjoy the prom

It was night of pink balloons, streamers, cupcakes and cookies, S'mores and candles in Mason jars, it was the 2013 Santiam High School prom, which was held with a theme of "Footloose." In keeping with the theme, many students eschewed gowns and tuxes and showed up in Carharts work clothes, cowboy hats and boots.
