US military deaths in Afghanistan region at 647

As of Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at least 647 members of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan as a result of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001, according to the Defense Department.

N.C. 540 To Close Next Week For Film Production

The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a section of N.C. 540 in Wake County between Davis Drive and N.C. 55 nightly Monday, May 4, through Friday, May 8, from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Davis Drive will also be closed between Kitt Creek Road and George Watts Hill Drive during the same time frame.
