ya just can,t hav fun any more .ya i no bah, bah, bah, bah ,we all did the same thing when we were all young or did we forget now that we are all old . the lawyers and the police got us all trap in are homes can,t do this can,t do that ! hav fun and go to jail or just get sued .the commies are taking over .even in the the woods they come after you. o one more thing folks up on sportsmen rd. sounds like a rat in the wood pile to me ,someone ratted you all out or just befriend you all for there personal gain . can,t do anything any more

Sue, are you for real? Are you trapped in your home? Does your fun involve illegal activity? Because I know I do plenty of fun things without going to jail or getting sued. They should go after you in the woods if you're breaking the law. There was no rat in the pile, there was an out of control underage drinking party. The only personal gain I see out of this, is that nobody was hurt. And if 'anything' means breaking the law, well then, no, can't do that anymore.

Are you kidding?- your parents threw you booze parties when you were underage?

The adults in this story are idiots - sure it might be difficult to stop underage kids from drinking, but to enable them to drink and to do so in your house is stupidity on many levels. I wonder how the other parents feel about sending their kids to a chaperoned house party and finding out that the chaperones provided alcohol.

I disagree as do a lot of people about this situation. I think if parents wish to allow their "own" children to drink alcohol under the supervision of another adult in a non public place, aka a private residence, and of course enforce a strict no driving policy, it should be their own business. We spend too much time regulating, fining, and moderating peoples lives. We spend way too much time worrying about what everyone else is doing.

Now with saying this, if there were minors attending that did not have permission to consume alcoholic beverages than that is a good reason to punish these people.

Think about this, in most European country's minors start drinking the family wine at the dinner table from a very young age. This teaches moderation and respect. Here is the U.S. We make it a taboo. And like everything else we tell our youth not to do, they then disrespect us and do it anyway!

My point in all of this is, these are young adults. Is it not better they learn moderation at home? or is it better they learn when they go to college and learn by drinking at frat parties by some older kid who is not concerned at all whether or not they drive, binge drink, or overdose??? Think about it.

the european argument holds very little water, substance abuse rates among teens and adults are very similar to those in the US. they havent learned moderation any more than we have.

Good Point, however, my actual point was to say that I would rather teach my kids about the do's and donts, as well as the uses and abuses rather than some punk kid on the streets. I think you must have missed the end paragraph which explains this.

maybe you or some parents can teach moderation effectively, but its a stretch to suggest that all parents can or that it would be good public policy. in fact, I would suggest that a large portion of parents already try to do this, yet we still have serious substance abuse/alcoholism rates among tees, college students, and adults
