The driver involved in a Timberlake Road wreck that killed two men on April 21 had a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit, Lynchburg Commonwealth's Attorney Michael Doucette said during a bond hearing on Monday.

Investigators think that Christopher Bryan Speight, 41, killed his sister, brother-in-law and 4-year-old son two days before fatally shooting five others.

They say one reason is because of several multiple-fatality accidents, including one earlier this month, that took the lives of two people in Appomattox County.

The 7.5-mile water line stretching from Campbell County into Appomattox County is just three to four months away from completion.

Four persons were injured, and damages were extensive in a two-vehicle wreck that occurred at 4:15 p.m. Thursday on Highway 501 in front of Millstone Grocery, 125 feet south of State Route 628.
