After I wrote recently about the need for schools to be more involved in the fight against childhood obesity, a reader named Mike wrote to inform me that government "cannot provide love" and, where kids are concerned, "government is not part of the village." I disagree, and just how wholeheartedly I do so has struck me on several occasions of late.
