Facing the haunting echoes of the word...cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month By Kim Swindell Wood, as told by Debbie McPeak

Editor kim@myspartanews.com

Published: Thursday, October 15, 2009 9:17 AM CDT

Editor's note: This is the fourth of a series of stories about cancer survivors that will be published through May 7, 2010, which is the date of American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in White County.

The doctor steps into the door, looks you straight in the face, eye-to-eye, and all you hear is...cancer, cancer, cancer, cancer, a million echoes of cancer.

It all started April 2nd, of this year, three surgeries, reconstruction, and all possibilities until proven otherwise...a stroke, and it's not over yet, but the cancer is gone!
